A new state law -- House Bill 1105, which was signed into law on July 1 -- stipulates how and when students can use personal electronic devices during the school day in an effort to support focused learning in all Florida public school classrooms. The law says:
• Elementary and middle school students may not use a cell phone or other personal electronic device at any time during the school day.
• High School students may use cell phones and other personal electronic devices during instructional time only if a teacher gives permission for educational purposes.
• Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for students with an IEP, specific health needs, or English language learners (ELL).

Mayor Chef Keough came in to our Culinary Classes to speak to students and demonstrate Gumbo and an American cuisine dish. Students had the opportunity to taste the different stages of traditional roux and Tasso ham.
Today was such a sweet day for some of our students who went on a community-based social emotional learning field trip.
They got to spend time together outside the classroom, practice real-world social skills, cheer each other on, show patience, use kind words, and enjoy just being kids. These are the moments that remind us how much learning happens beyond the walls of a classroom.
A huge thank you to Minneola Mini Golf and Michell's Tropical Treats in Groveland for welcoming us and helping make the day so special. We are grateful for community partners who pour into our students and help create memories they will carry with them.

Today was the first day of state testing with PM3 Reading! Students started out their day with snacks and drinks graciously donated by our parents, PTO, and community members. Teachers started their day with Bagels sponsored by Bay Lake Builders.
