Ms. Sherry Watts

Our Principal, Ms. Sherry Watts, is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Nova Southeastern University.  She has been an elementary school and middle school math teacher, and has had the privilege of teaching aspiring educators as an adjunct instructor at Lake Sumter State College. Ms. Watts has attended Graduate School of Education/Harvard Business School courses, and has been in education for over 22 years, with 18 years as a school administrator.

As a teacher, she was honored by being selected Teacher of the Year at Windy Hill Middle School in 2004, as well as being recognized as a Champion School Leader by the Florida Charter School Consortium in 2016.  She has been published in Principal magazine and Education Week, co-founded the Elementary Mentorship Program, and has presented at professional conferences. Besides being the proud Principal of Minneola Charter, she has served on many Advanc-ED accreditation teams, served on the Program Review Committee for the Florida Charter School Conference, and currently serves on the Professional Development Committee for the Florida Charter School Consortium.

Ms. Sherry Watts believes in instilling a College-Bound Mindset, thus the development and implementation of the College-Bound program in 2015. In her own words, “Students must know that education is the key to future success, and that college IS an option for them. Students must know that success for them beyond high school is possible, whether that is college, vocational education, or the military”.

Aside from her passion for education and Minneola Charter School, her most important role is being the proud mom to her very own Minneola Mustang!
